Late 19th C. American applied ornament, acanthus ogee profile frame with all gilding removed

This frame’s liner has a series of narrow steps with lambs tongue, a flat geometric frieze and a row of beads. The main frame rises with acanthus leaves and floral motifs on an ogee profile. The top edge has laurel leaves and berries with crossed ribbons and corner straps. Cove sides with guilloche at the back edge, Vestiges of original gold leaf
