Mid 19th C. American fluted cove frame with applied ornament

This frame has a narrow inside edge with flutes and shield shapes at the corners on an ogee profile. The top edge has an overlapping “coin” motif between two narrow bands. A broad cove at the sides with elongated beads entwined in strapping at the back edge. Original gilding. Missing liner.

Moulding Width: 3 3/8
