Description

This frame has a cove sight edge, a band of leaves and another cove. The prominent, high relief top is festooned with large and small flowers held in at the corners and centers with curving bands. Below are a bead and floral bud design dropping further in a band of acanthus leaves, several steps and a narrow band of leaf tips at the outside edge and flat sides. Original gilding. Luca della Robbia was an 16th C. Italian artist who produced enameled terra cotta frames with profusions of fruit and flowers.
