The fluted cove has wide acanthus leaves at the corners and and an overlapping "coins" motif between two raised bands at the top edge. Cove sides with a stylized leaf motif at the back edge. The original gold leaf surface remains underneath a re-gilding with gold metal leaf and portions painted black.
